What must remain visible in the record?
EO process effectiveness depends on interacting variables including temperature, humidity, gas concentration and exposure time. Use the validated process and applicable instructions for operating values. Generic online ranges are not a substitute for the specification of a particular load and system.
Use a linked evidence file
Bring together the load identifier, cycle record, required chemical and biological monitoring, deviations and release authorization. Identify the indicator by SKU and lot. A purchasing description such as “EO strip” is too broad to resolve a later technical question about a specific item.
Aeration is a separate consideration
An EO indicator endpoint does not measure residual EO in a medical device. Aeration and residual acceptance therefore need their own applicable evidence. CDC explains the role of aeration after EO exposure. Do not use a colour result to shorten a prescribed aeration process.
