Two different specifications
Type 5 integrating indicators respond to critical variables across their specified operating range. Type 6 emulating indicators target stated cycles. The practical distinction is the claimed application: match the instructions to your actual cycle rather than assuming that 6 is an upgrade from 5.
Build a comparison record
For each candidate, record its code, stated cycle or range, instructions revision, placement requirements and acceptance endpoint. Leave an unknown field open and obtain the missing document before approving the specification. Do not infer time or temperature from a photograph or the type number.
Question for your supplier
“Which document confirms that this exact code is intended for our cycle?” is more useful than “Which type is best?” For EEP products, include the SKU in your request so the response can be tied to a specific item. Neither type replaces the full load-release procedure.
